Lisa graduated from Institute of Culinary Education (formerly Peter Kump's) in New York City with a blue ribbon degree in 1996. She went on to work at The Food Network under Emeril Lagasse, Sara Moulton, Mario Batali and others until 1998. Lisa started a children's cooking program along with adult demonstrations at Chef Central in Bergen County, and, after spending 5 years honing her skills and building relationships, she opened Lisa Pattman Unique Custom Catering in 2002.
